Dear Sir,
In replying to your application, regarding Students of the Morrison Education Society to enter H.B.M's Service, as interpreters, attached to the Consulate at Shanghai, we cannot conceal the embarrassment which we feel regarding the point in question; for while on the one hand, as guardians of the institution, we are bound to secure to the pupils a thorough Education as possible, such as must require several years of Study, it is equally obligatory on us at an early period, to provide Stations for them where they may make some remuneration.
